Sport

As a part of our desire for children to learn "beyond the classroom", a number of sports are offered at Winston Park Primary School. This encourages both a balanced lifestyle as well as healthy competition. It also plays a huge role in teamwork and relationship building.  Over the years we have established a name for ourselves in the inter-schools sporting arena with teams that truly excel.

The following sports are organised and coached by the staff, with the assistance of external professional coaches, where required:

  • Swimming

  • Athletics

  • Cricket

  • Mini Cricket

  • Cross Country

  • Badminton

  • Hockey

  • Mini Hockey

  • Rugby

  • Junior Rugby (non-contact)

  • Tennis

  • Netball

  • Soccer

  • Mini Soccer

  • Mountain Biking

  • Chess

Our sports field was donated to us in 1982 by Mr and Mrs Del Buys. The three Houses were introduced in 1984:

Crowe House — Named after Mr G.R. Crowe who organised the planting of the plane trees in Winston Park.
Gillitt House — Named after the Gillitt family who lived in the area for many years.
Halsted House — Named after Mr T. Halstead and family who owned and lived on the neighbouring farm.
